Sue Walters has been creating art since childhood. Growing up on the coast in Southern California, she saw the color of light and the beauty in nature. She appreciated the complexities and spiritual element of landscapes and the early California painters in particular. She studied at the LA Art Center College of Design and Gemological Institute and sold antique jewelry in Los Angeles. After moving to Palm Springs in the 1990′s she returned to painting. Sue is inspired by the work of Victor Higgins and other Southwest artists.
Over the years she has studied in workshop situations with many well-known artists, including Brian Blood and Scott Jennings.
In recent years she challenged herself with plein air painting and found new outlets for her talents with landscapes. She travels regularly and records her surroundings with both brush and camera for scenes in future studio paintings.
Sue maintains studios in the desert and Carmel by the Sea. She continues to be energized by the light, color and her work.
